SplashID Safe now offers even more ways to keep passwords secure

LOS GATOS, CA -- SplashData today announced a major update to its SplashID Safe password manager that adds new security features. With more attention than ever on password security, thanks to recent data breaches and Heartbleed, SplashID Safe now provides even more options for users to keep their passwords securely encrypted on mobile devices and computers.

The latest 7.2 update to SplashID Safe delivers new features such as 2-factor authentication, a new Local Only option to sync some records across phones, tablets and computers but encrypt other records just on a single device’s hard drive, and a way of securely sending records to colleagues or family members.

2-Factor Authentication: To help provide an extra layer of protection for users needing access to their records from a number of devices, the latest version of SplashID Safe adds the option of 2-factor Authentication. This feature requires an additional code to be entered when a SplashID Safe account is accessed for the first time from a computer, mobile device or browser. Once the additional code is confirmed, the second factor will no longer need to be entered when logging in from that device or browser.

Local Only Records: While many SplashID Safe users enjoy the convenience of accessing their most-used logins anytime without worrying about sync or backups, others prefer to maintain especially sensitive records – such as bank accounts and social security numbers – stored and encrypted locally on a desktop computer’s hard drive. In the latest version of SplashID Safe, users can designate any record as “Local Only” to store it only on the device selected and not sync.

Share Securely: The new version of SplashID Safe makes sharing passwords, account numbers, and other records secure with a feature that makes it easy to send encrypted records to colleagues or family members. Assuming they have the right credentials, recipients can view the shared record, but only one time. If the recipient is also a SplashID Safe user, they can add the shared record(s) to their own database with a click.

SplashID Safe 7.2: More Control, More Flexibility

“With the introduction of SplashID Safe 7 last fall, SplashData offers the only password manager that gives you control over how to handle your records — encrypt and save locally on a phone or tablet, sync and backup over WiFi inside a home or office network, or keep records securely and automatically updated across multiple phones, tablets, and computers,” said SplashData CEO Morgan Slain. “Now we’re providing users even more options and flexibility for storing and using their logins and other records.”

SplashID Safe is available for iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone, Windows, Mac OS, and on the web at www.splashid.com.  All applications are free to try for 30 days.  Users can then choose one of three purchase options: one application for $9.99, multiple SplashID Safe applications with WiFi sync for $29.99, or access to all SplashID Safe applications and SplashID Cloud Services for $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
